BISHOP RODERIC A. EDWARDS, SR.

Bishop Carl E. Holland
First Lady Sandra Holland
Bishop Thomas D. Strong
Executive Board

Bishop Roderic A. Edwards, Sr. was born December 26, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan.  His testimony has been that he has always been in the church, but the church has not always been in him.  While serving in the army in 1969, preparing to be shipped off to Vietnam, sickness overcame his body – not knowing that God was in the plan.  After being hospitalized for 3 weeks, they sent him home for 3 more weeks and when he returned, they sent him to Texas and then to West Germany where God filled him with the Holy Ghost and later called him to preach His word.

Bishop Edwards is an accomplished pianist and organist and has accompanied such artists as James Cleveland, Shirley Caesar, the Barrett Sisters of Chicago, the Clara Ward Singers, and many others.  Bishop Edwards has been called maestro, multi-talented, a musician’s musician, and a mentor to many other young musicians because of his legacy in music.  He has recorded several albums in the past, and at present is preparing to release a final album entitled “The Four Sides of Bishop Edwards”.

At present, he is the founder and Pastor of Power House Temple in Highland Park, Michigan.  He graduated from Bethesda Christian School in 1975 and received an honorary Doctorate degree in the area of religion and psychology from the Christian Fellowship Institute International Bible College in July 1998.  He was consecrated as Bishop on July 11, 1998.  He currently serves as the Michigan State Council Chairman for the Pentecostal Assembly of Believers, Inc., and the Diocesan Bishop over the state of Tennessee.  He has been married over 35 years to the former Sandra Manning, and they are the proud parents of three children – Roderic, Jr., Jevon and Canndice, and have six grandchildren.  Bishop Edwards is also a member of the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Inc. where he serves as a teacher and facilitator in the Artelia Hutchings Training Institute.  He is a member of the Gospel Music Workshop of America and serves on the Evangelistic Board, is a musician for the James Cleveland Chorus and the Detroit Chapter of the G.M.W.A.

His favorite scripture is Psalms 27:13 – “I had fainted unless I believe to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
